T-Bone's F4ME and/or ODS "North East" tiling

I have just compiled a tiling package for T-Bone's F4ME theater, which in the same is "North East" part of ODS terrain. F4ME uses the exact same textures and is fully compatible with ODS, so what we tile on either theaters... works on both.

Some background I'd like to shed on the matter... The terrain is now autotiled for rivers, roads and cities, along with correctly tiled terrain type according to elevation. It of course uses one type of tiles to do rivers and roads, which sometimes get dangled pretty bad and look weird on wrong type of terrain (you can look the Afghanistan theater screenshots for examples), so here we need human hand to fix things up. I think this method is WAY faster and easier than to start from plain and empty segment to tile.

I know I know, just recently you saw me posting about "I have no illusions of people willing to help tiling", but heh... well its work that I'm doing for T-Bone so I have good excuse to ramble here

If anyone is interested of helping tiling this baby, please let me know.

Tiling is pretty easy once you HAVE the tiles and a Breif description of what each tile is for... TerrainVeiw is a pretty intuitive piece of software...

DL it from the Downloads section and have a look at the normal Korea L2 and tiles, and it should suddenly appear very easy...

The work that we are doing is more of less on the last phase (if you can call it that), its by no means over yet. Here you can see the progress chart:

That chart you see is the whole terrain of F4ME or Middle East what T-Bone is commanding, the same time its Desert Storm "North East" part (uhm this is explained before I think). We will continue to tile Desert Storm alone right after F4ME/ODS "North East" has completed.

Not with numbers... but sometimes I do catch some memory flashbacks when flying over the terrain, remembering what happened around that tiling region etc. It is really enjoyable to fly around and see the segments you have tiled, your work has made that happen.

I know when I see screenies of stuff, i can immediately identify my tiles... As for the offset number tho, well, cant claim that!!! But normally i can pick the tile and the best part of the filename...

Last tiling assignment of F4ME/ODS "North-East" was given out just now. The tiling progress chart have been updated, check it out at:

The white area left side of the grey line is the ODS 64 segment beta 0.1 releases tiled area. Segments right from the grey line is F4ME and ODS 128 segment "North-East". The F4ME proceeds bit more futher to the east than ODS 128 eastern area, but not much.

So what does this last assignment out mean?

Well as you can see from the chart, green areas are not completed segments, orange areas are assignments given out to people (but not yet done) and white/grey areas are completed segments. There are few orange areas left, one given out just 5 minutes ago, some are a bit older. When all these orange areas are completed then my work begins (sigh).

I will tile all the remaining "transition" areas between the tiling assignments. Many people have many different tiling styles and I'm going to "stitch" them together.

Hopefully the rest of the assigned areas will get completed soon so we can wrap this baby up (and turn over the F4ME half to T-Bone hehe).

We are seriously in the "last phase" of tiling now, its only matter of days when I announce tiling completed for F4ME/ODS "NE" !

Grey segments are done by me. Thats the way of being tiling coordinator, to "stitch" up the assignments. Luckily there are not much differences on tiling styles, so its rather easy job. Just tiling.

Excuse me, according to tiling progress pic, seems the NE part, 64x64 map will be released indenpendently? or in 128x128?
so OOB wont count in countries like Israel, Turkey, Jordan...and Carrier group in Red sea?

Lets hope so, I just have the feeling that there might be some roadblocks on the way. At least one guy bounces email back to me when I try to reach him etc.

So I might have to give out one or two assignments (or tile those myself).

Earlier today I was working on the campaign, finally Widowmaker offered his trigger file (save0.tri) and that helped a LOT. Now we have decent activity and war going again.

Testing... beta testing for sure, soonish. I cant and wont promise any dates because those always change but real soon now. Only one CTD problem in the Tactical Engagement (which can be avoided) is under work.
