in game airbase coordinates

Post by Red Dog » 2002-08-22 12:09:00

Anyone know where can i find the in game airbase coordinates in Lat and longitude.

I'm working on the ODS terrain volume for the checklists and I would like to avoid overflying each airbase :)
airbase elevation would be fine too (tile elevation in terrainview??)

Thanks

I'm not sure but you could set up the coordinates into Tacedit, then load ODS campaign file and just surf away through all airbases.

When you move the mouse in the tacedit, the long/lat coordinates are located in the bottom right corner.

The coordinates are not spherically mapped though - so probably useless for newer theaters.

Thanks to both of you.
Does that mean they will not correspond to the one in the DED when an airbase is selected as steerpoint?

Guess I'll have some ferry flight ahead :) Which F4 has a slew command as in FS2002 LOL

I could indeed use a hand :) like in the old days :)

- Position for Navigation
For the airfield/airstrips having no Tacan collocated, I need to have one or two reference points. That means having a radial from another Tacan station and a DME data.

When over the runway (not too low this time) pick a powerfull station around. Center the CDI on the HSI and write down the radial value. Assess if it's a FROM or TO value (I think F4 works better with FROM values) and write also the DME value from the HSI.

I like to have two radials - one in FROM and another in TO. If possible from two different station. Who said I didn't ask for much?

Who said F4 was nothing but fun?
Still want to help - welcome to the bad case of F4 radionavigation illness.

I'll post the list as soon as I have finished it.
Needless to say - you also have to use the latest stations.dat for ODS which I need to tweak a little more.

Cheers

LOL

Looks like I can't avoid learning radio navigation any longer! :)

Perhaps others might want to be involved?
