3-D MODELS

Post by MAVDON1 » 2001-04-20 18:42:00

Okay,
I am really frustrated here - firstly, somewhere on this site I saw a previewed version of the A-6 in 3D, can't for the love of me find it a second time. Can anyone help with that?

Regards & thanx in advance

No. there is NO A6 shape available at present. the one you saw is EA6B shape in classic Vnam ear skin.
if you DL "theater skin pack" from F4c or
www.siteofshadow.de

you can fly it in this color by check vnam pack 1968-1972.

for a more serious A6 shape,
David at F4A has done a dedicaged model, but waiting for 3d conversion.
Dragon, the magic Mac falconer, consider bring us a modified A6(from EA6B) with his LOD editor. sounds promising in near future.

As for cockpit art, i mockup a very rough on for fun a while ago. and I ever edited loadouts to get 24 mk82 onboard for fun.

that's all story about A6 stuff.

Hi CCC,
Really want to get into this 3D thing, but there just seems to be a complete lack of everything: Programs for 3D, conversion, 3D files/models, or have I got it wrong? Am I looking in the wrong place?
I found a site:
thomsen@image.dk
someone who has made 3D models & waiting for a conversion program, but I can't d/l any of the stuff from HIS site because his servers are all down at the mo.
This whole thing must be really frustrating for the guys who have been in it for a long time......

hmm...glad you like to talk 3d things.

first, that link is Chris aka "Ripper"'s 3d modeling site. it takes tons talent to edit things byte-by-byte. if you got F4patch4.0, you got all his latest models.

Second, if you got a Mac, you can start your modeling now. check Dragon's site here:

http://home.woh.rr.com/rprior/macf4/

or check related threads on this board, general discussion section. his LODeditor is a real magic.

Third, i built some shapes a while ago.

To sum up, Dragon is our saver at this moment. We are all looking forwards his new toys!

Okay,
I see! This is a complete issue, across the board, then?! Right all I can do now is wait until Dragon provides his little 'toys', ad it'll be one helluva party time at Falcon4.0!
Good, can't wait!
Right, would it be handy to have my own favourite 3D graphics program to use when the toys come along? Or will that all be included with the toys, do you think?

Na, no idea which program for modeling.
the best and closest one probably MultiGen, though we cant afford it.
the closest format is FLT.

well, after modeling for months, i think Dragon's LODeditor is our shortcut. and Julian's converter is our ultimate tool.

I believe it's so expensive they didn't even bother to add a price on their site...

Don,
forget MultiGen. We've discussed it for many times.

trust me, Dragon's LODeditor is our simplest solution at this moment.

Hi There

One of my squadron works for CA who own Multigen. He tried to get hold of a copy for me but got told in no uncertain terms to get lost (actually worse language than that).

BTW - Price tag is around UK pounds 25,000 I believe although this can change in negotiation dependant on what you're using it for ie producing a sellable product which will make royalties for you and them.

Bloody hell! I own a damn sports car that costs less than that - well you're right of course, forget that!
However, just for a moment think about this:
if that program was say only a few hundred pounds, I guess there are more than 250 people who would buy that. The point I am making is that they are doing themselves out of business by a sizeable margin.
Mind you, probably just peanuts to them!

Sigh......! GO DRAGON...........
