A few problems

Post by Tomcatter » 2002-02-15 22:28:00

As I was landing at Da Nang, a flight of 4 B-52's were taking off from runway 16 Right. They all rolled down the runway, got to the end and crashed and exploded. Mind you, one of them was able to get into the air but not after damaging itself badly. It crashed a mile out. Is Da Nang too short for B-52's or was that some freak occurence?

Campaigns crash for me. Is this the mod, or just my game? (About 3 or 4 missions into the campaign, if I try to fly, the game will crash at the launch splash screen.)

At speeds around 700 MPH, my F-4 will start groaning and taking damage. I cannot drop/fire ordnance after this happens. It only happens when I have ordnance onboard. Did the F-4 have some sort of VMAX when loaded, or is this a bug.

Apart from that, it's fun as hell. Target rich enviornment indeed.

Keep up the good work,
Tomcatter.

Last time i tried i lifted off with the Buff. B-52's never flew out of Da Nang. However it is a small thing since you can use F4browse to change it. B-52's flew out of Guam and U Taphao,Thailand but we couldn't fit either of them on the 10x10map,maybe later.

Anything you can do about the CTD's?
Also, do you have any plans to make F-100's and F-105's? (And AD Skyraiders, A-7's, A-4's, etc.)

I dont remember my last vietnam testings, but there have been some kinds of problems in the past. Will be looking for this.

Again its been while and cant remember this right now. I suggest you do reinstall using the manual installation instructions.

This is falcon thing, not a theater thing.

For your information, I'm slowly preparing the Vietnam SP2 installation package and it will be available soonish.

I can't wait. Really.
I think the Nam airwar was fascinating, and it's so good that it's come to F4.

SOON?

While planing ODS skin pack, i cant believe another Vnam is about ready!!
IIRC, this round will be 128x128 right?

Regretfully, only one or two, maybe three new models are ready for Vnam. so the skin package wont differ much from prevous pack.

F4E----Ripper new model, need more, or all Vnam Sq scheme?
Mig19----resume its silver skin, add NVAF roundel.
J6/mig19----- PLAAF, add PLAAF roundel
Mig17/J5----- new build by Rick, will need silver and stripe jungle camo.
mig21F/MF----- no change. silver NVAF
B52------Ootami new model, need silver/SEA shceme
Il-28---- need PLAAF and NVAF scheme
Mig23---- NVAF... in Vnam?
Su-7 ----- in Vnam?
AC130----- vnam shceme?
T34 tank----- new build for NVA. skin done by David Morrison.
F105---- model pending.

at least the carrier and ships are moving,
if we had the scooter,F-8 and F-105, that would cover 99% as far as ac's go. Most of the work was done with the Thuds.

Will that F-105 be available for use in the existing theater with RP5/108i2 or will it be specifically part of SP2.The reason I ask is that I won't be able to run SP and I can't afford an upgrade.

Thanks

In this case, you need:
1. LODeditor
2. F4browse

to do:
1. create an install on SP2 on your machine. use LODeditor to extract F105 model and textures( not complete yet)
2. Append the model and textures onto your RP5 install, or replace some slots of defulat a/c.
3. Use F4browse to edit some key files, like stores, pylon data, etc.

hope this help.

ccc,
Thanks for the reply,I know what your talking about but I've never done it successfully before.I'll take it under advisement but I'm not sure if I want to try it,I have a very poor track record on making the kind of changes your suggesting.
Thanks again.

P2-350
V3-3000

System don't have enough horse power and I don't have a D3D card.As I understand it you have to have a pretty fast system to run SP and it doesn't run in Glide so that let's me out on both counts.

No time soon I'm afraid.I don't forsee any sort of upgrade for a long time.
As it is now I can run the Vietnam Theater, hosting 6 and 7 players in the campaign with no trouble.
I was able to get the online campaign ground war moving by removing the bridges and all other non-military objects in Laos,Cambodia,Thailand and China.I left the bridges in North and South Vietnam and things seem to be working ok now.I suppose by removing the stuff it reduced the number of objects low enough for it to work online.
One other thing we noticed is that resupply and re-enforcments are reaching the front, before, the mission tasking would start to slow down by day 2 of the campaign but it doesn't seem to be doing that now.
