You don't have enough ccc? :D That story was just a description of the situation posted above. The drones did not deploy the drag chutes when returned to mother-frigate, sorry....but I can send you a LOD for schute node addition if you wish....?
If you want a screenshot of the "composed" cruiser or frigate, it is nothing spectacular in the current stage(it is an ancient 1998 F4 model tweak). But it brings to the simulation some aspects, I missed before - ability to engage both air and surface/subsurface targets for single ship(mean true weapons), ability to operate cruise missiles, drones and fake and true choppers from th ship, incremental damage model and incremental 3D model degradation

hope I will post a screenshot of the ship soon - it is not so complex, no objectives needed

BTW I saw your helis multiplied through the last night. They had wild party I suppose :mrgreen:

If you like spectacular details - i have a plea to add the switch or better animated DOF to ASW helicopter - sonar lowering + dragging.
Imagine the yellow sonar hanging on the wire, is going down to the water (just currious it would colide or sink into water- but I suppose it would sink - it will be outside the AC hitbox..)
I am still not sure, what action assign to it - perhaps canopy opening, hook lowering (but this one would be usefull during landing) or something different, unimportant and nonessential for general flying and aircraft handeling
May I send you a seahawk model for the tweak? - It's your SH60 LOD, I just created simple skin for it, perhaps changed some nodes, moved some parts (I can not remember now, it was few months ago. But i can recall I had to tweak some chopper quite lot due to the origin placed in the center of the rotor etc...)

so..you replace aircraft model with helo and fly it?
in this case dipping sonar or dragging MAD device can be animated as tailhook or refueling probe DOF. or make it simpler, as a switch node, no animation.
May I send you a seahawk model for the tweak?

Yes, it is an OV-10 replacement with AN-2 flight model. ( heli icon, name and engine sound of course)
The original plane is propelled AC, scout + armed recon. It is relatively slow, so it's mentality match my purpose. Even the AI comarades cooperate fine.
I dont need OV-10 in 1989-future Eu theater. The AN-2 FM if superflapped is close to heli as well.
max speed is 120kt in level flight. I can fly 50kt easily, even sustain 30kt.

I looked at the various model structures
most of the KC ACs uses just few basic switches
0+1 for comunication during the refuelling process + lights
2- landing gear

and only one DOF - 40 - it is the refueling probe DOF I guess, but the pipe mesh is not included in the LOD (it is perhaps separated as dedicated, linked model) I dont know, but I have feeling I saw it together with AC model in the past..?

So I would rather give priority to another node type.

An-2(this one is used IMHO), OV-10
canopyMaxAngle 20
both models have the same DOF limit for the canoppy

I think the hook helps to land on the carrier. I have this experience since I tried to land with F14/18 in AF.
So I would prefer Dof 23 (the angle limit is probably 20)

I am going to send the model + texture.

good news!

The OGLLOD view rotated around the origin, placed in SH-60 main rotor, so I did a check i 3D world.
It is sinked in the runway, means my mentioned tweaks I did only with KA-29, not SH-60. (It was quite tricky due to flipped axis, more rotors etc.)

I did not have an oportunity to see it before, because I did just 2D takeoff/landings with SH-60.

You can make the tweak in MAX if you wish, no need to do it in LE. Just use the SH-60 LOD with hardpoints please (you did for me in -February/March?).

But please, move the SH-60 up.

Check this link.. i did not use SDOF/TDOF/Xswitch on the lod.. the towed MAD is under simple switch #13(refueling probe-door). the helo also got some minor tweak on tailrotar and tyres.

BTW your sceenshots look cool - appearantly you've lots fun modding and flying fake helo.
An-2 FM is ok..sounds more controllable than AV-8 FM.
penguim ASM on helo looks great. next time try editing mk46 torpedo.

also, carrier-based seahawk is SH-60F using dipping sonar. Other ship-based seahawk is SH-60B with towed MAD.

I would perhaps try some simple hexa-hack. I have no plans to make extensive hacking, but perhaps to change 0 to 1 in 2-3 cases is doable....

BTW: Su17 family ACs are still buggy in AF - I mean the oversweeped wings during the high speed.
0 is ok for landing/takeoff, but the limit should be 30 I think (it is going up to about 40 deg)
Where is the limit located please? It is not obvious at first sight.

It looks FF5 has additional parameters compared to older SP3,4,AF file. (but ccc said it does not help to solve swing-wing problem)
FF5 has XDOFs supports as well.... I dont see a solution for AF this way

CCC said in another thread:
then, sinec DOF has no ROM limits, you've to control the ROM via FM.dat, or use "Nesting DOFs" to get the ROM you want. say, some DOF is limited to 30 deg via FM.dat, you want a 90deg ROM- nesting three DOFs.

for su17..well please check your F14 FM.dat, see if it got these flags..

My switch number was a little bit different before (11?), but autoupdated. I tried your number (14), no sucess.
I used to count all the nodes manually about half year ago. But it was problematic very often...

P.S. This all is not about sonar. This also doe's not meen I want to make Falcon helicopter simulator.... These hints are rather essential for any "serious" modding - means modding the whole theater, not just the terrain + cam.
My dream are COMAO operations for 20+ people online, inside nonpredictable campaign environment. The helis are just icing on the cake.

for testing helo towed MAD switch, you may change switch# to gear switch#(0 or 1 or 2 ) for test..

since you use AN-2 FM, the fake helo can lower its gear during low speed flying.

Yes ccc, I was also thinking of such a solution. But I did real 3D landings on the carrier with fake helo. Thats why I wanted "clean" model config for landings. On the other hand the 3D maritime landings are quite unimportant.

But still, the time I will need to tweak something in the encoded dat file is closing. Sooner or later I will have to learn howto edit it...
