Re: Aerial photos for terrain tiles?
The Farm Pics are indeed very good for terrain tiles... It will take some time to get used to working with aerial data, but once you work out how to build the first repeatable tile (with some types of terrain like farms, its a nightmare!!!), its not too hard to import more data onto the first generic tile and create more... Farms and cities are probably the hardest...
As for rice patties, i dont know of any site that might have stuff at a useable res off the top of my head... will keep and eye out tho...
I'll ask some ppl, and see if im allowed to post some images of terrains built exclusively from aerial imagery, from a forthcoming game.. Id go ahead and post the stuff right away, but the way its laid out ATM might give too much away, on how some of our terrain stuff works...
But if your after some help with aerial imagery manipulation CCC, ICQ me... Widmak should have my ICQ number...

Re: Aerial photos for terrain tiles?
thanx..i'd better find aerial shots of rice paddies first, then learn how to make tiles for Vnam.
modelers are making great progress in vnam vehicles, i feel we need serious upgrade on terrain part.

Cool... As i said, im happy to show u how things are done... If you can find the aerial imagery (preferably in colour), im more than happy to show you what to do and show u how to avoid repeats and keep stuff random looking etc...

if you put a colour fillter over it you might be able to use it in the next nevada release.

Re: Aerial photos for terrain tiles?
no, the differences wont be marginal. its all up to the quality of new tiles.
