Creating a Bullseye

Post by krfrge » 2002-05-06 03:01:00

Anyone know how to create a bigger bullseye for various theaters?

This was bit offtopic in the falcon 4 area so its moved to terrain now.

What do you mean by bigger bullseye?

Snake, I have been working on the new theater tools that are in the download section. I have started over with the Libyan Theater. The specs are here:

Theater name: Libya
Theater size: Regular
Size (L2 segments): 128 x 128
Size (L2 tiles): 2048 x 2048
Size (Nautical Miles): 1104.75 x 1104.75
Resolution: 0.134858 Nautical Miles
Centered on: Lat 31 Long 15
NW: Lat 40.2063 Long 2.94556
NE: Lat 40.2063 Long 27.0544
SW: Lat 21.7937 Long 5.08506
SE: Lat 21.7937 Long 24.9149
Highest point: 10187ft
Lowest point: 0ft

The problem that I have run into is the fact that the bullseye size is incorrect for this new theater. Also, I have been wondering if it is possible to have multiple bullseyes in any theater.

thanks

Still I do not understand what you mean by bullseye size, if you mean the size that is shown on the campaign map... that I do not know.

But there is no "size" in bullseye as its one X and Y coordinate, one spot in the map.

You can change the bullseye location with tacedit. It was the campaign -> location menu.

Two bullseyes? No that I know of.

Snake, You have answered my question. I am familiar with moving the bullseye around the maps but wanted to know if it could be resized to fit larger maps.

Thanks

Yeah I think I know what you mean now, finally :)

The green grid or range circles of the bullseye to be made larger. Codec or Widowmaker (Code and UI gods) can shed some light on here, wheter its hardcoded or just the .SCF file editable stuff.

Snake, You are right on target. I wanted to see about resizing the bullseye to fit in the 2048/4096 maps. Also I thought about increasing the number of rings on the bullseye for greater range determination.

Bullseye size and rings are fixed in the exe I'm afraid, you can't alter them externally.

krfrge,

thx for your generous offer. I would be glad to see your work if you don't mind of course.
I've made 64x64 theater which has the center point almost the same as yours. After I complete a working theater (which has some problems on campaign file right now) I am willing to prepare a tile set for some specific areas (like bosphorus, dardanelles, some coast tiles having the mediterranean characteristics etc. then some 3d static models (objectives i mean) that theater needs.

Cihat,

Let me know where to send the turkey theater. It is still very raw but I will gladly share what I have completed so far. I have flown the 1st day of the Campaign and all is well. The terrain needs a lot of work. I am slow on getting full use out of CATE.
