Hello,

this post gets updated and edited regulary.

My first impression so far: Good job!
I really liked the fact, that all islands from ArmA 1 are ported and thats a lot!
Its also really cool that the picture of the guns (hard to explain) you see in the inventory, does not have a background
no more and does only feature the weapon.


Bugs:
No ironsight view mode for 90mm recoilless launcher
Lee-Enfield rate of fire too high
Mosin Nagant with no sight does have scope aim view
No US Artillery does have textures yet
M56 Melera cannon on VC instead US side
BTR 50 no entry point, invalid crew
Some RPG-2 units have RPG7
RPG2 no ironsight mode
M2 static US no sound

I think a lot of these bugs are known and are being worked on but some might be new.

Just tried some of the weapons and came across 2 things:
-SVT40 has no shooting sound
-Kar98 ironsights obscured

well i guess i posted in the wrong thread yesterday so i copy and paste my feedback here again :)
hello all, tested yesterday the full version and want to give some feedback.
first of all, you did a great job with all the stuff and units snake man, just awsome. :D
of course there are some minor problems with some units but overall they are great.
i found a few bugs wich have to be adressed :

1.all mgs at the tanks make no sound when fired. SOLVED
2.mgs at the apc mafia show the muzzleflash all the time.fixed
3.all bridges on every map i saw, are displaced and very high.
4.sounds in open helicopters like uh are weird, you can hear the environment from outside but u barely hear the helicopter sound.SOLVED
edit, the sounds in heli are good, i had mistakenly both vte versions running, so 4. point isnt valid
5.no smokegrenade is working, they dont show up in the menu but are present in gear.SOLVED
6.the rate of fire of the mgs in attackhelis or planes is way to fast.SOLVED
7.ai refuses to move over the ricepaddys bounderies (known from arma1)
8.there is no rain sound when raining , thunder is present just no environmental rainsound.
9.i dont know if this is a feature but the us soldiers have no maps but vte soldiers have maps (perhaps only some have?)SOLVED
10. the point of view in uheys is too low and its impossible to pilot from inside.SOLVED
11.when looking over the shoulder in a huey , the back is not visible, only the 2soldiers at the mgs are present everything else is missing.SOLVED
12.vte ai (perhaps both sides)is way to accurate even in lowest difficulty settings, they spot and kill with first shot even when you are 400-500 meters away
13. the gauges in uheys are weird, they look white.
will have to look into more

what i did not like at all, is the vegetation at the maps, wich seem to be just simple ports from ofp to arma to arma2.
i hope there will come better maps with arma2 vegetation, a very good example for good jungle is the berghoff jungle addon wich is used in isla duala and razorenyia map and at lingor.
there are some good spots on some maps wich deliver some vietnam feeling but most of the time i stare on ugly trees , ugly bushes wich sometimes look like 2d bitmaps, rivers with unnatural squared borders.
i know they are ported and do their job for testing all the stuff but my suggestion for arma2 is not to have countless maps with low quality for arma2 standarts, but to make one or two big maps with good quality.
perhaps some of the professional map makers will do some maps when vte is released, unfortunately i have no idea how to map or mod i just know what i like to see in vte :D

15.sa 2 and sa 2 launchers are indestructible
16.trucks cannot be entered as driverfixed

17.ctd when placing any of the vte gamelogics.
18.us jeeps allow 5 persons to enter but only 2 or in case of mg jeep 3 are visible.
19.gunner at mg jeep get damage when disembarking

20.point of view too low in birddog.fixed
21.sampans and bigsampans cannot get fully loaded with men, some seats just eject the unit.
22.m113 front is going up and remains upwards when driving backwards and than forward.fixed
23.m113 has no driving sound.
24.driver in m113 is just in thin air in first person
25.m163 vulcan cannon rate of fire too fast
26.when disembarking from a truck player gets damaged

28.napalm still has no visible explosion.
29.cbu 52 sound too loud and can be heared for long time

37.soldiers stick through the left and right side of huey when sitting in the back
38.soldiers who sit behind the pilot or copilot are not in correct place
39.copilot seat can not be manned

New bugs:

Artillery which would be moving in real life, cannot.
Windows of the Katusha are so black, you cannot see through. Also very blurry like the other artillery. Don't know why, since the original textures were way sharper.

* Weapons are too accurate (1:34 upgrade). Means a Thompson has a range more than
300 meters here, while in real life the effective range is 100m.
M3A1 and Ithaca are also too accurate on long distances (300 meters and mor)

Same for the MP40, sten and PPD.
-Thompson iron sights are obscured when lying down as a US Army officer.
-Can't find the "get in" position on the B57.
-B57 pilot position is too high, torso is outside of the cockpit.
-NVA Sniper (Mosin) has type56 rifle
-MiG19 pilot view is too low
-MiG17 has the same weapon twice: GSh cannon/ GSh23 cannon
-SU76 driver can't see a thing
-PT76 driver can't see a thing
-Same thing for the ZSU37
-NVA ZSU37 has a US crew
-NVA truck driver position is too high
-VC Rifleman (M14/Mortar) has 20rnd M16 mags

SU-76 and ZSU-37 driver being west soldier is good catch, thanks!

Keep up the good work of testing, all feedback is very valuable to us hammering away in PMC sekret codelabs :)

I form part of 1st Reg of CHS Comunidad Hispana de Simulacion, we are a sixty men that play ARMA 2 OA in full real situation, and wanna test VTE full version that u are playing on your dedicated server, maybe if we can enter on that, we can send to U full feedback and will be possitive for both parts, I can´t find where download last version, I have download Six Updater version.

If your answer is yes send to me a PM with the link and U have 15 guys minimal testing your excelent work.

Bug not yet fixed: 90mm launcher (US): No sight mode.

Type56: Wrong inventory UI picture

StenSD; Sten weapon models are no Sten guns. They are Sterling submachine guns.

after my first startup i noticed :

the vegetation is'nt as good as in arma 1 meaning its less dense then in arma 1 (arma had thicker jungles (more tall grass and bushes) )

the bridges on the maps are floating way up in to the air giving a very ugly look to the maps

i have no sounds in choppers and planes

during install (the update 1.3.5 ) i noticed that the updater could'nt perform its duty on the VTE_bis_obj_cfg.pbo (cant find the file or something like that ??, although its in the mod dir ) and the VTE_sounds_cfg.pbo (file to short error ?? ) the rest updated very nicely.

Someone else reported the same, I think there is now something wrong on the upgrade method, maybe it was the v1.3.3 or .4 where the install went wrong.

Thanks for reporting that. I think this might be because you're one of the new guys, where you just went from 1.3.1 -> 1.3.4 and perhaps there is some files which got new files in 1.3.3 I just cant remember.

Do you have VTE_sounds_vehicles.pbo inside the addons dir and if so, can you tell me how many megabytes its size?

Anyways I have uploaded vte_bis_obj_cfg.pbo and vte_sounds_cfg.pbo here which do work. Can you please unpack these on top of the old ones and try again if it works fine in-game. If you're missing the vte_sounds_vehicles.pbo then its obvious you cant get any vehicle sounds and ... well then I have to upload that for your too. But lets take this one step a the time first.

Download vte_possible_missing_files_v1.3.6.rar - 6kb.

Profanwolf confirmed that indeed the vte_sounds_vehicles.pbo is completely missing in his install (he is one of the latest testers), apparently the 1.3.2 or 1.3.3 upgrade included this pbo, I have now already deleted that upgrade file from our server so there is no way for me to restore it. This missing pbo is my bad and I apologize, I'll try to avoid such a newbie mistake like that in the future.

I will upload the missing 27mb pbo later today and hopefully that fixes the missing air vehicle sounds.

The upgrade process has gotten bit messy now, I'm afraid I might have to do new full clean base install soon, but I would want to avoid that as much as possible. That's why its very important that you guys report who's got the vehicle sounds and who doesn't, who's got broken pbo's or other file / upgrade errors and who doesn't.

Hello

We are playing VTE mod in CHS community, testing ACE, ACRE and other mods compatibility, and almost all are working well, some M16 rifles not kill, but using ACE´s M16s, looks and works fine, testing UH1 of Takistani Army, and works fine and look better than your old fashioned HUEYs, we are very impressioned, on this mod, is awesome, the climax on jungle environment is superb, and IA soldiers are very smart without UPSMON, with Monsada´s addon will be impossible.

THX for the permission for beta testing and receive our feedback inmediattly, when debrief our missions.

Some guys in CHS are good 3D modellers, mission editors and map modellers, if you need support on that items just say it.

That is great to hear, thanks for testing, appreciated.

However just to be perfectly clear, this private test version is meant to be tested with only the VTE + XEH mod dir loaded, I doesn't matter what looks and works better, there is no point of testing if you're not using VTE stuff. So please use only VTE when testing.

Sure VTE could use help on modeling and mission making, not so much terrain editing (we have 25 already), the place where we really need help is texture painting. But anyways, this starts to be quite offtopic for feedback :)

Hi,

First of all, thanks to you guys for everything you've done to make this mod possible for ARMA 2. Great job.

I've downloaded the preview version and if its possible i'd love to help test out the full version as well.

I have some feedback from the preview version though.

1) I've been in the army for a few years and my first weapon was the M16A1. It certainly did not have such a muzzle flash. The muzzle flash doesn't have that hollywood style "flower" pattern. Its just a flash, thats all, and in the day time its barely visible. If you oil your weapon, which we all do, then you'd probably just get more smoke after firing. I like the vanilla (original) ARMA 2 ballistics. It feels right.

2) The vietnam mud doesn't look that red. IMHO, its just too red and is actually quite an immersion killer.

Maybe the above had already been addressed in the full version. If it had, then pls disregard.

Can i test the full version too?

1. We will change it to the proper muzzle flash as soon as possible

2. I'll talk to snake man about it, i feel the same way myself, but it doesn't bug me too much especially during overcast weather.

But in this mission thery are using ACE m16a4 !!! Btw nice video !!!

Question about VTE shotgun. I read above they were too accurated over 300 mt .. Is it possible to recreate the same effect of OFP (many bullet per time with high dispersion ) or will they shot a single bullet like ARMA 2 shotguns ??
