PMC cmp1 (unnamed campaign)

v0.3 May 27th, 2009.

Command Engine X (CEX) campaign with 28 straight forward combat missions. You have several infantry squads, special forces, tanks and helicopters as well as artillery in your disposal. It is up to you to command your troops into victory.

- 19: added helo pads for our helos.
- 19: does not end, fixed (I hope).
- 15: resupply repair truck? added.
- 15: ammo boxes? added.
- 15: ending trigger, check. looks fine?
- 09: mission ended before all objectives were ticked in briefing, fixed.
- 03: wont end, fixed (I hope).

In the PMC cex campaign the artillery, mortors and rockets do not work.
Is there anyway that you can fix this as this makes the missions a bit
unbalanced in favour of the enemy. Also the helicopters seem to be
really crap. I thought that US helicopters if engaging enemy tanks ect
would stand off at a long distance to fire from treetop level , rather
than attacking really close and at a high height to be shot down
immedietly.
Also why is it that the special forces also seem to be so woefully armed. Even though they are four men recon units I am sure they would have some grenade launcher equipment as well as at least one machine gun. The special forces should in my view should be armed with mines, instead of satchell charges. Mines are much more useful as they can be laid in possible movement areas of enemy armoured units and really do some damage. With the satchel charges its impossible to use them. If you read about special forces operations a large part of their remit is mine laying as well as intelligence gathering.
Also where are the Javelins? the infantry units should have a few as well as the lighter rockets. And just one more thing, it would be great if you could have ammo boxes (including javelins) near the troops so that there load outs can be altered
Anyway, I am really enjoying the missions but just giving you some
feedback.

I believe the Support menu doesnt work, but you need to use mouse right click on map -> Support -> arty and then it works.

I have now tweaked the scripts to be bit better by adding some radio traffic in them, also I'm planning on having some sort of ammo counter so you cant have indefinite ammo, its bit too easy just to hammer every target with arty now.

This is your default BIS configuration, even if you fly the gunships yourself while attacking enemy, you usually do not survive head on engagement with dshk machine gun.

To "fix" this I'm doing a PMC_config addon which would change the helicopters so enemies do not engage them, kind of like the AH64 Apache was default configured in OFP. This config is not ready yet and I have no idea when I'm coing to finish it. This would be transparent addon, not required by the campaign and it would be merely a bonus download.

Thats the BIS default configuration, I noticed it too that they dont even have full set of magazines for the silenced pepper guns. Since the days of CE2 I've been hoping a universal weapons & gear feature for CE2/CEX missions where you can change the loadout for all of your troops (not just your own squad).

Anyways maybe I script the SF weapons & gear lateron.

New version (v0.2) of PMC cmp1 has been released!

Here is the changelog:

- 18: hidden objective is cleared immediately, fixed.
- 21: cobras are labeled MH6's, fixed.
- cex debug at startup, removed.
- added weapons & gear, this is now weaponpool. maybe they run out before cmp ends?
- tweaked weather script, not so instant now I hope.
- arty ammo count tweaked, now you dont have unlimited arty anymore.
- 05: on parato it says cayo captured, fixed.
- 07: missing mlrs from support, fixed.
- 07: briefing typo, fixed.
- tweaked support scripts.

Hi Snakeman

I've just noticed this. Thanks mate. Anyway, in the list of alterations there is no indication of any change to the status of the helicopters. Is there any progress on the add on that you talked about in your last post. I hope it comes soon so that the attack helicopters can be changed to predatory killers instead of the damp squibs at present.

I do have the PMC_config which I'm loving (VTE has many same "features") and I wont fire up ArmA anymore without it... however the helicopter fix is still to do.

I think it would be nice bonus to add that config to be used with the campaign. Hmm again I have no new information when I get the helo fix in, most likely I need to consult Q for the best performance/implementation about it. Please keep reminding me (PM for example) if the config is not showing up soonish.

I am enjoying the new version of the campaign. The support artillery ect is working much better now. So just a little reminder about the new helicopter configurations, I'm really looking forward to them...Also no mention of changing the load outs for the special forces guys...perhaps you could have ammo boxes next to them at the beginning of the missions so that they can have customised load outs.

Heh nice that you reminded me. The helicopter fix is in, no helos get shot down anymore except with shilkas and strelas. Its kind of compromise I know, but we have gone through the stupidity of AH-1 Cobra getting shot down by small dshkm in the first pass (not actually even reaching the weapon before its shot down)... so I'm happy with this compromise.

So yeah the config, well I still have couple of Q's PROPER variable names there which I need to change before I can release it. Umm, what would I promise for ETA... ehh couple of days? remind me again :)

All right Impi, the new config is available. Here is the readme:

	PMC Config

This is custom config for Armed Assault by PMC. Basically this is the oldschool config style WGL + VTE in one neat package. It includes weapon ammo high dispersion, slower running speed, radio/voices disabled, more fuel to vehicles, tanks not killing gunship helo instantly and other nice things from PROPER and ESP configs.

This config requires ArmA v1.09 or newer.

This custom config is not meant to be widely distributed, its merely a bonus download for PMC missions, while there is no limit of its distributing, we would appreciate if this would be kept quiet and out of other forum posts and news sites.

	Install

Install by launching with -mod parameter. Do not use other configs with this like VTE or ESP etc. You can freely use custom effects though.

Other than mentioned above, I would very much like to hear some feedback from you (and anyone else interested... which is nobody Muhaha, sigh) of how this new config runs, maybe there is some items which you dont like and some that you love who knows, I'd like to hear about them. Of course the most important thing for PMC cmp1 playability is the machine guns not shooting helos anymore. Also I want to hear how the PMC cmp1 balance changes with this config in use, does it become too easy or what.

Oh and while this config is kind of offtopic, we are free to discuss it on this PMC cmp1 topic, maybe it spawns one or two posts which is fine, if it gets out of hand I'll open and new topic for it :)

Credits goes to ESP mod and PROPER configs, much of the cool stuff came from there and of course the oldschool WGL 4.xx style from OFP times.
