crazy question

Post by qawa67 » 2007-10-28 21:39:13

Hi all,

and sorry for grammar

my question is about the difference between campaign and TE mission.

Seems to me similar, but indeed there is some difference (obviously), but is not my intention ask about this.

I would want know if is possible to convert a CAM file, or a part of this, into a TAC file.

It's crazy I know  but...

So, I've thought that could be possible to use the AddFlight/Package option in a big TE mission.

I've already some good TE, but it was created for FF3 and are incompatible with RV (also I've not the skill to create one by me).

If my question is too much crazy... you can insult me !! :D

otherwise I thank you since now

Never thought of it that way. I dont know... Did you just try to rename the .cam to .tac and see what F4 does?

Actually it's not as crazy as you think. And in Allied Force, with the Add package ATO features it works pretty well.

The downside to the TE format is that you have manually assign destinations for ALL ground troops on BOTH sides since there is no PAK type system running to cause them to advance. And, as you noted, you have to create missions for ALL aircraft since their is no ATO to automatically generate the missions. Finally, you have to create victory conditions if you want to have a clear winner and ending time/date.

It's a lot of work but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work.

Yes you can edit TAC files in the Tactical Engagement (doh!) ingame and with TacEdit. But we have not covered editing .tac files at all as frankly nobody is doing that, everybody just plays campaign.

If you are flying OF or RV or not AF versions, you can always hi-jack BARCAPs. Or other flights for that matter. Usually I asses in Intel and will usually hi-jack a flight and change the tasks to take out an objective.

Hmmm, good question. I would imagine they will?? I mean if you change a BARCAP to a strike, and select a target they SHOULD attack the target. Be interesting as I never did that without flying the flight myself and hitting the target. Something to try I guess. :D

ok.. I try to do this:

Select my mission schedule (ex. strike)

Select 2 another BarCap mission, and change them to "Sead Escort" and "Escort"...

obviously, I've need to match waypoint (TOT) and correct loadout....

Just hope I've always Barcap mission in schedule

many thanks 8-)
