TerrainView comes in two Executables; one for 2-byte L2s and one for 4-byte L2s. They both bear the same version number (they usually are packaged together in the same zip file). The 4-byte version ends in a "Lg" on the end of the name, e.g., TerrainViewLg.

Yeah... uh SM - some of those utils are from VO. 8)

I'm not sure they would work with what has been released.

Although, it would be interesting to see if they worked with AF.... :)

Yeah I take this question is tricky/joke because of the smiley, but yeah lets draw a picture; it works with Falcon 4.0 fine, like said its the SP5 ViperOps aged one, perhaps with the Naval Tasking Manager (NTM) (if I recall correctly) features added.

I didn't mean to imply anything - and I certainly didn't mean any offense.

Some of the features probably don't work on 'old' F4, because VO was so much more advanced.

But, if it had better tools for working with 'old' F4 data, it might still be of use to people. :)

I really didn't/don't know if it works on 'old' F4 data.

I didn't try it and at the moment I again dont have F4AF installed, will have to install it again and try Tacedit.

Unless of course if someone can just rar up the necessary files and email it to me, but dunno if Tacedit reads something else than the pure campaign dir. Oh well I'll get around to try it soonish.

T_Rex,
Yep. One and the same LoD_Sherlock (FW) = Sherlock (PMC) ...

Khronik (i8088 at FW) is doing the installer packages for Israel and ODS. It is an MS-DOS based one (I think). I don't really have any insight into it. You will have to contact him.

Roger.

Will PM him. :)

I *highly* recommend the NSIS package. Free, and a community dev type package.

Just to clarify....the "NSIS thingy" is a program that can be use to create an installation package for a theater (a "One Click Installer" - OCI). You define what files you want to be in it and what paths you want created/where you want the paths (folders/directories) created then the program will roll all of your files and directory paths up into one exe file. Then the user merely double-clicks the installation package to install the theater into the exact places it needs to be be installed to operate correctly.

Hope this helps

Added the info from your topic, the AutoIt thingy.

By reading the information from these two, I think they are quite okay utilities for making theater installer. If I recall you had to copy some files and run the SPTinstall.exe to build the terrain, if not even something else too.

They are very useful.

There is an app with NSIS that I is supposed to basically update files. You start with a source file and a destination file, it figures out the differences, and makes a third file. With the app in the installer, you can have it find the source file on the user's pc, then use the third file to make a file exactly the same as the destination file.

If that makes sense.

I've had inconsistent results with it, though.

I believe you could use a combination of the two also to edit the theater list text file, too.

Very useful.

what about pilot editor?

Post by Closter » 2007-02-14 12:04:46

I've just known this utility and to me is the little detail utility that could help inmersion in some theaters.

The names and rank structure of each pilot in each squadron of a campaign can be changed.

Pilot Editor

Couldn't it be included in the list and in the download section?
