Impressive work. Do these models can be included in any Theater?

it's up to the Database editor(s), and falcon versions.

the model format is BMS/RV exe-compatible. AF uses old lod format.. some animation nodes are not supported.. unless you are good at Lodeditor and convert those nodes back to old style.

this pic to show the correct setting of taildragger..
Image

CoG value in acdata, should be smaller, in front of zero point and/or local main gear location to prevent "tail hit ground". previous pics show player taildraggers' tail crash on ground or jumpping.. it can be fixed by editing CoG value.

While tweaking ac for taildragger style, i encountered some tail-sinking reault.. as shown in previous pic. finally i found the reason. see pic.

Image

the measurement for ac.dat is, start from nosetip of 3d model.

Code: Select all

# Gear X, Y, Z, Rng
            25 0 5.7 100
            45 -13.875 5.7 100
            45 13.875 5.7 100
#
# Physical data
            35 # CG Loc
            51 # Length
check the ac.dat here.. the length of ac is about 51 feet. the center of gravity, CG is 35 ft from nose!

so, in Gear XYZ location, the measurement is from the nose too..
nose gear position is 25 ft from nose, main gera is 45 feet from nose!

the result is, you can see CG is between nose gear and main gear location, so the ac sit right on the groud, no more tail sinking! :D

Good! But how looks the old wrong data?
no, i don't mean old data is wrong. acutally all old data works.

i just to tell how the physical data is measured.

in my previous tweak, i mistakenly set the landing gear XYZ, with the value from lod editor.. say, nose gear X =10, main gear X = -5. guess what, the ac tail sinks because CG location is not between the two values.

this one is based on an outdated FS98 free model.. some parts are replaced with my 3ds.

not a hi-quality one, just fun to have it flying in falcon world - bring back the memory of JetFighter II and Strike commander days!

old toy, new tweak.. guns and targetting radar aim at me now
Image
Image

tho i added slots in lod, and edit store data with f4browse( only add Weapon, not HP), the 3d slots and f4browse data do not match.. so the SAM and gun tracers seem launching from mid point of ship model..

also the turret ROM seems limited by some file, keep jumping back to neutral position :?

Image
Image
the ship is not happy with my fly-by.. note the meroka CIWS try to aim at me..
Image
take another ride over default korea sea tile.. much darker.. about to land on this mini carrier..
Image
alright land on the deck- a bit sink into deck due to data setting error. but i do land there and look around for a while..yeah mini carrier.. the feeling is about the same as last time i tested italian garibaldi.

So I thought when I used it. I remade all coast tiles to use this sea tile(huge work :( ). They are free to be used in other theaters, just credit me..

On the perfectionist side, I think now it is slightly too bright. Perhaps it is a common palette matter.

BTW: Thank you very much CCC for the "Príncipe de Asturias" carrier. You are so great.

I really really like this!

Is it possible to make some sort of addon of this so these are added in addition to the current aircraft?

yes, you can add all new toys to customized database. AFAIW, POH has not reach Database-making status yet.. no hurry.

last batch of pics on spanish carrier...compared with monster US carriers, you got to land carefully.. the safety margin is narrow

BTW - i found it's very hard to do an U-turn on the deck! i tried to turn and taxi to the end of deck for takeoff run.. but the width of deck is narrow and i just fell into water.. boom!

Just out of curiosity, I understand that we cannot simply add new planes to F4 (database), we need to replace old planes or leave the adding up to the big modding groups like FF/RV etc, is that correct?

In any case CCC, do you store your all models shown in these screenshots, so if one day we get to add some of them in, we can get them from you?

Perhaps RAR the models up and send to me for double backup? :)

Replacing old ones is easier, but adding new slots need more knowledge and experience.
only very few guys good at this part of modding.. so i suggest let capable hand do the job. no hurry.

ATM i keep sending a copy of zip to Ranger, as a backup. if you want the files, let me know.

Haven't see preview thread my movies and other screenshots? ccc has a VERY old topic where you could see also many 3D models. Check my feature preview movie and screenshots in preview thread. What will you see?

- New A-6E model with new skin.

- New A-50 model (and also Il-78 and Il-76 got new very fine looking 3D model).

I just generally meant that we can have the ability to add the "hundreds" of models ccc has posted screenshots out of. I didn't mean to replace some FF5 A-6 model or something specific like that, I'm sure the new models are superb.
