I meant the next size smaller than whatever it is.

Maybe it would be easier to just do the hand tiling/major lifting on the area around Vegas and the main combat area (talking about the scenario that takes place between Vegas and China Lake). That would save having to rebuild the whole theater.

Just thinking out loud.

I agree.
It is the same, I make in Euro theater. I am focused on limited area in the center and let the rest as a background...
Yes, Euro is 128, but it is not problem(it is advantage, because of further development). And about *.cam - everybody can make its own *.cam with desired units + objectives as well...

BTW: I will post it in xls file to SM in the future.

My latest tile test in Afghanstan tile thread shows.. reducing the contrast/texture sharpness of moutain tiles helps reducing the striking repetitive looking at higher altitude. the bad thing is losing sharp ridge pattern.

viewtopic.php?f=22&t=21040&start=40

i wonder if Nevada moutain tiles should use these Afghanstan moutain tiles instead..or a 40-50% transparency moutain texture layer on flat land tile? Current ones look sharp, a feel of hard rock. and the tweaked Afghan moutain tiles look blurred, smoother and a feel of softer, sand-covering. well, my impression is.. moutains in Nevada are more rocky, and those in Afghanstan are softer/smoother..yeah?

alright, tile tweaking test ends. hope those test samples are of some use.

I released the version you can see on the topic, but haven't done any additional work since then.

Frankly I was disappointed of the feedback as I was "sure" it will be huge success, I guess I was expecting too much.

No offense, i think V0.5 do make progress, especially in tile part. BUT "huge success" could be a bit exaggerated.

the reasons of limited feedback come from..
- simmer/devs today set even higher expectation. they want even better looking terrains, complete database, and fully working campaigns, all at once.
- only few simmer/devs have checked V0.5. => no promotion on main falcon boards limits the download counts.
- simmer/devs have forgotten the ugly terrain/tiles in prevous versions. => compared with old one, terrain do look better.

seriously, packing it up and announcing an official release should gather more feedback..Nevada is best for MP flying/LAN party.. if virtual sq could use it to run some MP party, feedback could flood here.

Regarding the manpower invested, the progress is quite ok, imo. :D

No, its not that. Mostly I'm sad that I sort of made this to compliment Toonces interest on Nevada for long time when he made those AAR's and screensthos etc stuff... then he doesn't even try it out :(

You misunderstood me totally, this was private release in PMC Tactical forum and the audience and coverage was just that; small group of people in this topic. And these mentioned people, did not like it as much as I expected.

hmm..AFAIK toonces is busy with RL lately.

Also he's waiting for FF5.3 patch.. he wants to build new campaigns based on FF5.3 database. sure he may check v0.5 on FF4/RV.. but i think he decide to work on FF5.3-compatible( in his posts).

so.. please, take it easy.

I don't have the installer here anymore, its gone, bye bye.

I can do two things;

1) compile new installer when I get around to it (few days to months)
2) rar up the source files for you.

Option 2 means that when you install it, you need to copy few files around... and if you don't know anything what to copy, then I guess its bit bad option.

The sources are the basic files from my NSIS installer dir, the exe installer is made from these files, nothing is added and the installer only shuffles the AF/RV/OF files to build the complete working theater using these files. I think I could walk you through how to install this... if you don't want to wait for new installer which comes most likely at random time like I said.

Somewhere, Someone who downloaded the installer from here should still have it ....
I don't see why it has to be SO complicated.

Anyway, someone will eventually read this and uplaod the installer somewhere. If you guys don't have the bw, PM me and I'll provide it.

Got it, but I won't be able to do anything with it until I get a distributable copy of the FF5 DB.

I'll take a look at it tonight though.

Thanks ccc and SM.

I started working on some FF5.3 DB campaigns last night. Nothing amazing, just bumping my old campaign tests and rebuilding them.

There are some significant changes in this new terrain.

Is he going to fix the color of the tiles? In Nevada v0.5 the ground is green but in real Nevada is a desert! How can I communicate with this guy?

Thank you for your answer. I can't find the tile color topic in the forum, and I can't find Iceburg. Can you help me?

Also, are you going to publish a new version? v0.6?

This is the topic.

Hmm, yes... we are going to release v0.6 hmm, but I think we are still chewing the v0.5 release candidate, so I think that comes first :)

Howdy,

Really looking forward to the fixes in v0.5. This theatre will be a great benefit for use in our Virtual Navy training program. Could you advise how it is going and if I may ask, will there be ATC at the relevant airports?

Wow, where the sudden interest for Nevada? :)

Well as its said, since the v0.5 release candidate which I didn't even fully put to stable servers I have not done any work as I don't have F4 tools installed at the moment. Iceburg is working on the tiles however. I think when Iceburg is done with his edits, we'll package them into v0.5 release candidate 2 or so.

Work is continuing in Nevada. I have tiled the city of Las Vegas and created airport tiles for the Vegas airports. I am working on Runway heading assignments, then on to more tiles. I am shooting for a July beta.
Snake Man wrote:Wow, where the sudden interest for Nevada? :)
I have been secertly plotting in the background for some time wanting to do this
