Here is quick run on Nevada tiles from google earth. I just took a quick screenshot of google earth view and then used the image as base for a tile. I made two terrain types, dark desert and lighter desert. These example screenshots are from the darker desert, the angles are weird as I did not make M, L and T tiles so the horizon looks like you're under the influence of LSD
Dark desert
Dark desert road
Dark desert river
How does it look?

That's definately a step in the right direction compared to the current tiles.

That is the new tile-set for Nevada theater. Fartiles are done (I still need Photoshop palette editing help!).
What started just bit experimenting while flying, turned out to be complete overhaul of the Nevada textures. Right now I'm planning that hey I might just release this as its so nice compared to the original.

yes new tiles look great.
After checking Google Earth.. my 0.002c,
- any chance to add more variants of tile?
- better tranistion tiles .. i mean those between dark brown and light brown tiles.
- long term project.. SAT image for big cities( las vegas) and airbase backgroud( Area 51?).

Good effort on tiles. Making them is little addictive
Photoshop palette is still problematic ? Let us discuss this further.
