eFalcom1.10 Iceland

Post by Widowmaker » 2001-08-07 13:39:00

tried to get the Hires terrain working
under 1.10..
with the normal nF4patch4Tinstall all works fine.. still fartiles are still limited this way

The eF4patchTinstall crashes when building
the L0
this might be due this version of Tinstall combined with the huge L2
it might also be a restriction from win98
wich would mean Win2000 nesesarry for such a file..

anyways.. it doesn't work
I hope Fred or Julian can help me out on this isue..

Tried some hires Lo building in Nordic too. Machine suddenly crashed, guess the big problem was my swap file, wich is fixed to 300 MB. Might retry later. Win 98 and NT have some limitations, wich I've seen during MATLAB/FEMLAB operations.

ok after 5 mails to Fred
it is done.. it is working ok

Thanx alot Fred aka Baldeagle
for getting me through this most frustrating day.. ;)

now next stop would be Dem2LF
to create the full map and
start learning the autotile scripts..

Keep ya all posted..

Striker.. what excactly are you trying to do??
you cannot have hires parts in Falcon
either the map is Hires or not..
there is a Med-res option though.. hehe
wich would be in between Korea and Iceland

this would be a 500 meter tilesize 128 segment map

Just testing out some filesizes, WM. Nice coastline there. Coastlines in F4 standard tiles definately needs some redoing to create a realistic look.

Nice work guys.... What sort of Machine tho, do you need to run the Hi-Res terrain?? Whats the impact on frame rates, especially considering very soon, we should also be able to add forests...

FPS hit is significant...

I guess it should be run on a 1 Ghz processor and a decent Vidcard

trees wont take too much of a fps drop..
and the Iceland campaign wont have the magnitude of the Korea one
so I think it would be save to say that
aout 800-1 Ghz will e the minimum requirement for Iceland Hires

From what part of the country is that coastline (North West?), its very accurate i must say, but as i toldya before... that green is to..green ;)

Those mountains are more like the topmost part of the tiles there rather then the lower green.
