Theater tiling - help needed - join up!

Post by Snake Man » 2001-03-01 18:35:00

We need tilers.

Check out the new tiling tutorial if you dont know how to tile, its really easy.

Autotiling is pretty ok for generic tiles, but roads/rivers/cities are made by human work so here is where we need you.

Everybody join up the effort and this theater is done in no time Image

Yeah with email. If you want to tile, send me email to nospam and I'll give you the details for tile & terrain file downloading etc.

Tiling tutorial

Well looks informative enough I guess.
maybe some handouts could be given towards the diagonal transitions used by the tiles.

btw are these the tiles you are using, these are the old ones or the new ones with lighter desert tiles and such
from T-bone edited pack.

BTW using an spehrical map means DS and ME cant lateron be inetergrated to one map
too bad, yet I uderstand your decision.

in how far is your texture.bin compatible with ME one....?

Is there going to be a good terrain primer
like:
were to put dunes
were to put clean sand
were to put sand with distotion etc.....

and furtermore I noticed that there are alot of rivers in the terrain
I wondered if we should use them all
in Vietnam they are done all an not a problem
yet I can imagine that most of those rivers in DS dry ones or am i wrong????

well just some thoughts...

could you post the tiling setup
on your server on PMC that is I cannot recieve those packages through mail
and not via egroupss cause my download manager wont work there and odds are quite high it's going to fail
thanx in advance...

Hmm what did you have in mind?

There are pretty lame, roads are the old good ones which you can even make out from distance. But the coastline is the new green one, so they lookg really bad together. I'm planning on fixing those later when the first release is due.

Most likely I wouldn't have used F4ME tilings afterall, its lat is like 26.625 or something, it will slightly misalign the map and objects.
And of course the spherical conversion did a nice job so I went for that.

The current one is pretty much same as F4ME, except that I nuked all the tiles that I felt is never going to be used.

I dont know, simply. I think the theater would be just fine if we only model the large rivers in Iraq...

Started tiling my very first time (26,30)-(28,31).

Kinda neat if ya ask me. Reminds me of making programs on my TRS-80 and trying to match up those little tetris pieces to make pictures.

Wish there were a bigger variety of block pieces. Meaning full tiles of just one look (grass, rocky ground, bushy ground, whatever).

Going good though. Two more to go and I'll send em' in.

We have been doing nice progress, but we still need more tilers so the great people in the tiling team currently dont have to work so hard (which they do).

Please join the effort and sign up as tiler, check out the tutorial and if you have any questions just ask, we are glad to help out any newcomes to tiling scene.

Thank you.
