====================
digest:

Headquartered in Baghdad
in 1987 had
seven corps,
five armored divisions (each with one armored brigade and one mechanized brigade),
three mechanized divisions (each with one armored brigade and two or more mechanized brigades).
An expanded Presidential Guard Force was composed of three armored brigades, one infantry brigade, and one commando brigade.
thirty infantry divisions, composed of the People's Army (Al Jaysh ash Shaabi--also cited as the Popular Army or People's Militia) brigades and the reserve brigades, as well as six Special Forces brigades

In August 1990 the Iraqi Army seized and occupied Kuwait. Iraqi ground forces in the KTO included elements of up to 43 divisions, 25 of which are assessed as committed, 10 the operational reserve, and eight the strategic reserve. Some independent brigades were operating under corps control.

http://www.fas.org/irp/world/iraq/rg/
REPBLUIC GUARD INFO.

The envelopment and destruction of Republican Guard units was a high priority of Coalition planners. During the Desert Storm ground campaign the American 24th Infantry Division encountered the heaviest resistance of the war. The Iraqi 47th and 49th Infantry Divisions, the Nebuchadnezzar Division of the Republican Guard, and the 26th Commando Brigade took heavy fire but stood and fought, but the 24th Division trapped most of the Republican Guard divisions. The 1st Armored Division hit the Tawakalna Division of the Republican Guard, and the 3d Armored Division fought its toughest battles in defeating elements of the Tawakalna Division. These Armored Divisions subsequently engaged remnants of the Tawalzalaa, Madina, and Adnan Divisions of the Republican Guard.

The Republican Guard, currently consisting of seven divisions, is commanded by Qusai Saddam Hussein, and the Chief of Staff is Staff General Ibrahim Abd Al Sattar Mohammad Al-Tikriti.

A typical Republican Guard armored division would include the following elements:

Divisional Headquarters

2 Tank Brigades
3 Tank Battalions
1 Mechanized Infantry Battalions
1 Motorized Special Forces Company
1 Engineering Company
1 Reconaissance Platoon
1 Medium Rocket Launcher Battery

1 Mechanized Infantry Brigade
3 Mechanized Infantry Battalions
1 Tank Battalion
1 Antitank Company
1 Motorized Special Forces Company
1 Engineering Company
1 Reconaissance Platoon
1 Medium Rocket Launcher Battery

Divisional Artillery Brigade
3 Self-Propelled Artillery Battalions (155mm SP)
2 Self-Propelled Artillery Battalions (152mm SP)
2 Self-Propelled Artillery Battalions (122mm SP)

Seperate Units:
3 Motorized Special Forces Battalions
1 Reconaissance Battalion
1 Antitank Battalion
1 Engineer Battalion

Just found this wonderful link for Iraqi army organization:

*be sure to check unit structure links. dunno if DB managers could add new units, those pics are great to tell what to use among default units.

since theaters like ODS
and evenmore Vietnam would need a loadout master
would it be nice to get a guy like Ktel involved into this?

He did a greast job at the Tornado, and perhaps he is willing to do some work
on out theaters, and keep the loadouts correct for PMC theaters

also a guy called JimG has been mentioned to
me..

any thoughts?

Some random thoughts about OOB:

1. The realism level of ODS campaign is tied with Database. DB bugs could easily disrupt the realism of ODS, not only loadouts but wpn performance.
2. a/c ECM performance could somewhat differ from those used in Korea.
3. AIM7 become rather useless..the overall performance is horrible.
4. according to aforementioned links, USN F18C tested some JSOW sample in ODS, we may supply them at very low level. so does aim120.
5. Hawk SAM, AFAIK, Kuwait got this system for years. During the nite of invasion, several iraqi a/c were down by Hawk, then iraqis got these SAMs..it's said they try using Hawk to defend coalition a/c...maybe some Hawk around Kuwait international airport? :D

I was wondering if we could bend the realism just a bit with couple of F-16 squadrons. These were located in UAE airbases which are not listed in the theater map.

Here is my suggestion for ODS airbases

(real airbase) -> (ODS airbase)

#
# Al Dhafra for -> JEBEL DHANA 5662
#
#363 TFW(P) Shaw AFB. Deployed to Al Dhafra AB UAE
# 17TFS Shaw AFB SC
# 33TFS Shaw AFB SC
# 10TFS Hahn AB GE

#
# Al Minhad for -> AL AHSA 3216
#
#388 TFW(P) Hill AFB. Deployed to Al Minhad AB UAE
# 4TFS Hill AFB UT Killer Scouts
# 421TFS Hill AFB UT LANTIRN Equipped
# 69TFS Moody AFB GA LANTIRN Equipped

Also we should possibly add F-117 squadron for Taif airbase located in the south west corner of the theater.

Let me know how much you guys would like to bend the realism here :)

This thread at FW http://forums.frugalsworld.com/vbb/show ... adid=27516 has a thread that suggests the F-117s were stationed at Khamis Mushait Air Base in Saudi. Is that on the map?

Snake
I dont really think its bending the realism at all - the campaign engine really needs the full weight of allied air power to be able to more realistically simulate the air battle anyway - so IMHO - go ahead and add them in !

I agree, but this is should be the minimum starting point since all objectives and all links will be utilized in every CAM file in every theater scenario. So all road networks need to work where any chance of friendly/enemy unit traffic is possible.
