I've found these islands have worse performance and crash more frequently with a low terrain detail setting. Changing it to high gives best performance. Very weird :)

I think the crash may well be related to high VD, I was using about 7km to see the island quickly. It crashed 3 times before I reported it here. ArmA.rpt had no mention of any human readable reason for the crash, only some hex style error code.

Heya Gnat, I assume you are referring to making a satellite texture map? As slow and boring as importing a "base" map from the OFP version ground textures is, it's nothing compared to "painting" the real satellite map, depending on how polished you want the end result. The satellite map only needs t...

the 51km island works without any problems
The 51 km island seems to crash my ArmA 1.07.5157 after a few of minutes of flying about (player is only unit on map).

Doesn't ArmA allow us to specify the cell size?

Re: 500+ hours of wrpTool 0.950 (feedback)

I've also had trouble starting OFP while wrptool is running, but only on high object count islands. Also alt-tabing back and forth can crash ofp. I assume this is a ram or video ram hogging issue, but realistically, fixing this would probably require a complete re-code. I have found the chances of s...

500+ hours of wrpTool 0.950 (feedback)

G'day, I've just (almost) finished a large island project using wrptool to do pretty much everything except the heightmap and most ground textures. Basically I want to say it's a great tool, but could easily be polished up and made a lot more user friendly. Here are my recommendations and bug list, ...

Re: Vietnam: The Experience v0.3

hey. I gave vte 0.3 a go today. An very impressive collection of vietnam addons! However, I think that the sheer quantity of content has come at with a reduced the level of quality control. I began the PMC Nam 1965 campaign, and encountered numerous scripting errors in both of the first two missions...

Re: Wrp files - unpacking data

For each higher terrain setting, OFP halves the terrain grid size (doubles the vertices). The engine interpolates the height of the additional data points, based on the cell they are in, adjacent cells, plus noise. I don't know of anybody working out what equation it uses though. Cells with a slope ...

Re: Suggestion for a new feature

How about a function in the region tool that allows you to define a maximum distance from another object? This could make creating random clumps a lot easier.

The region tool is your best friend! Remember that every single tree on the BIS islands was placed by hand - Visitor has no equivilent!!!

Re: importing terrain from wrptool back into visit

definately. the tool should be quite easy to code, but without the ability to automatically create transitions textures you'd still need to work in visitor. it does seem odd that the latest wrptool is not public.. with only ~10-100 active users of the program, closed development doesn't make much se...

Re: importing terrain from wrptool back into visit

hey yes, visitor allows you to define "terrain" types. you can set up textures to apply based on altitude and slope. it can also automatically apply "patch" variation textures at defined percentages. i set up different ~7 terrains types based on altitude, so that you have rocks occuring at a slight ...

Re: importing terrain from wrptool back into visit

ahh, managed it. not a very obvious process : ) for anyone else who wants to do the same: - binarize the wrp created wrptool. using the old oct 11th version of binarize. no config.cpp was used, just the world.wrp + all used textures (though these aren't actually needed) + objects. choose *not* to ov...

importing terrain from wrptool back into visitor

heyas, i'm working on an island using a combination of wrptool + visitor. i've textured the terrain in visitor, then added roads and towns in wrptool. as part of this process i've altered the terrain. i would like to get the modified terrain back into visitor for further rule based texture work. the...

wrptool zoom crash

heya all, i'm having some trouble when zooming in using wrptool 0.950 if i zoom in too close on an object (aligning road connection pieces) my computer crashes hard, sometimes with a bsod for 1/4 second, then it resets itself. do others have this problem? i've had a quick search around but haven't s...
