Re: WrpTool and VBS1 problems
A reply from the VBS community thread said that it was a problem with the textures and that by loading/saving them in texview it workd fine afterwards. But if the game can read them why can't Wrptool?

Re: WrpTool and VBS1 problems
not seem to be able to use the ground textures from VBS1, even those that originally came from OFP. Well there you go, if you cannot use even OFP textures, then you got a problem. Perhaps try installing WrpTool again? That was me being unclear, the OFP textures I can read without problems, but the ...

WrpTool and VBS1 problems
I have had some problems when using Wrptool to build islands for VBS1. The first one is that my Wrptool (0.95) does not seem to be able to use the ground textures from VBS1, even those that originally came from OFP. When I try to add them to the texture browser I just get a "divide by zero" error. I...

Re: zoom controls
OK, this is pretty much how I went about fixing the ground textures. You need to split your map/photos into 50x50m squares which OFP/VBS uses. It is important that the photo squares match the OFP cell coordinates as they are placed exactly on top of the cells. This can be a problem depending on wher...

Re: zoom controls
A "quick" workaround is to convert the map and photos to ground textures and then lay them out in WrpTool. This works well. I have used this a number of times myself. The important thing to remember is that while WrpTool can happily work with more than 512 ground textures it can NOT save with more (...

Re: Problems with Region tool
Now I must expose my ignorance. The 'real' button?? Which one is that??Have you tried clicking on the 'real' button? You can do it before you draw a region or while drawing, you can even switch program and the region drawing is kept, atleast on my os/wrptool.

Re: Problems with Region tool
I have a lot of trouble closing region tool, especially on big islands, and have tried everything: zooming in, zooming out, clicking near the start, clicking far away form the start, etc. I have not been able to find any sure method to ensure closing a region and have no idea what the problem is. It...

Re: a couple questions
for future versions of WrpTool, it would be really cool if a person could add a picture overlay to their map, so that i could add roads/buildings exactly where my satellite imagery shows them to be, rather than having to switch back and forth between WrpTool and the pictures. There is a workaround ...

Re: Texture limitations?
one way to fix that is to create large single plane polys with your texures applied, say .5 km per poly, then lay them on the map with the object placer. If they are tagged with the on suface properties they'll warp to the ground. Then you can have several km of ground by using fewer textures. But ...

Re: Texture limitations?
Yes it will work. Just try to cover a map with one single big texture file and if your OFP is running stable you are also able to use 512 different types - there will be no difference. We have been using texture to great effect so this question interests us. Do you mean that by using a big texture ...

Re: Really BIG islands
I was sent a template file with a 2048x2048 wrp. It works but it is difficult to fit it in without the game exiting. I found it is not just using a LOW terrain setting but also making sure you dont load in large unused addons. It seems like the maximum size of the program is fixed.

Re: Really BIG islands
WrpTool has the create new island limited to 1024, but it will read the 2048 correctly. I think we either supply you guys with a 2048 template .wrp file or increase the create new island size to the big ass 102km size. A 2048 template .wrp file would be fine. Do you know if one exists somewhere? In...

Really BIG islands
I am trying to create a really BIG island, cell size 2048, but WrpTool complains "Invalid MapSize". According to the manual it should be possible to do this and OFP should be able to handle it.
Can it be done? If so how?

Re: Object always at groundlevel
The problem has now been solved. They were binarized. The solution was simple. To make it easier to place the harbour objects I put the origin of the model on the top surface. Simply by moving the origin somewhere else, in this case the center, everything now works and they remain at the elevation a...

Re: Object always at groundlevel
Looking over my query in the cold light of dawn it seems a little muddled. I set the elevation (to absolute value) in WrpTool and it seems happy with it, but when I run OFP the models now follow the elevation of the ground underneath them. Setting the elevation relative the ground make no difference...

I am making a model of a (real) town with a canal and harbour. The terriain shore line is too boviously rectangular so I need a model to place along the shore to mark it out and "hide" the terrain. The Resstance harbour models are too elaborate so I have made my own. The model is a grey box 50x25x10...

Re: Road Rebuilder on the fritz
I have also found that the road rebuilder doesn't work and do it by hand now using the following method: 1. Find a suitable place in the existing road to start the new section. 2. Add the new section leaving the old in place. This makes it easier to connect. 3. Remove the old superfluous section. N....

Thanks again. Here's the island I'm doing - I'll find out soon enough if it's too big. Came from 5 merged 30m DEM coverages. It's about 30-something km across. http://www.ecatalina.com/ui_images/map.jpg Nice, I like it when people model real maps. We have done a 51x51km map with no size problems...

Help with Batch conversion of A LOT of tga files t
Not really a WrpTool question but I need help. I need help to convert a lot of tga files (over 600 in the first go) to .paa files. The reason is that we are using aerial photographs to generate ground textures over a region and you need 400 tiles for each square km. So you quickly run into large num...

Re: the key files for wrp?
There has been some uncertainty in the past as to whether to use dta or resdta materials, as they are nearly identical. I suppose it really depends on what you intend to create maps for, but I would very strongly recommend going with the packs from resdta. ... resdtadata3d resdtadata resdtadtaext r...

Re: Problems using WrpTool with VBS1

I'm currently testing how well WRPtool works with two simultaneous data feeds that include folders with the same name and contents...

Problems using WrpTool with VBS1
We are now using VBS1 and I am trying to convert some old maps from OFP to VBS1. I have done a separate set up of WrpTool for VBS1 "by the manual" unpbo:ing the pbos that come wi...

Re: Minimum distance in Region Tool
@rvirding Think you know, on why it's made by BIS, that forest sections in OFP should have a cell matched triangular shape, in respect to align trees properly along the surface slopes. That is what they say. But is it really true? I have placed the Nogova 1 sections non-aligned to cells and there h...

Maybe, indeed it has to do with the mesh extension of trees. Having made a preliminary test with barrels, which works correctly. Re: Minimum distance in Region Tool
I'm guessing that you are not placing enough objects in the region for this to be a concern. My understanding is that the min dist. is just to limit the randomizer to make sure that by weird luck you don't get clumps. The min dist. option maxes out at 20m, and will cull any objects from the request...
