Re: ARAS 100km "Maps" (ie Islands)
There's plenty of debate whether they meant 10km * 10km, or 100km * 100km. Remember, the rest of the world thinks that 10km * 10km maps are monsterous, as even BF2 only goes up to 4km * 4km tops, and Joint Ops uses a stupid tiling method for artificially creating terrain expanses, and requires you t...

Ok, first off your setup looks right, this is where new users generally run into difficulties, congratulations. Secondly, the Object Finder tool is designed more for adding undefined objects to the working set rather than actual object placement. (Manual pg. 17) To place objects you'll use the Objec...

Re: the key files for wrp?
For your first question, remember that res is technically a mod folder, so the only thing relevant is the .dta and .addons portion. I was just mentioning which files specifically to pull. Additionally, in the case of the .dta content, that obviously is sittig in a different location that .addons, bu...

Re: the key files for wrp?
There has been some uncertainty in the past as to whether to use dta or resdta materials, as they are nearly identical. I suppose it really depends on what you intend to create maps for, but I would very strongly recommend going with the packs from resdta. That said, download our new tool PBOx and e...

Re: Problems using WrpTool with VBS1
We're aware of this issue with the textures, specifically in regards to the dest folder in Terrain Pack 2. This issue should be fixed in the next public release. Using PBOx on the VBS Data and Data3d folders in a similar fashion to the CWC and RES data works correctly. In TP2, the maps and configs a...

Before we try anything further, have you made one map ever in wrptool and loaded it ingame successfully? If not, your problem may be that your path information in WRPtool is setup all wrong. This wasn't mentioned in the readme, but these are also the same DLL's used in WRPtool. They are known to be unstable on 9x and ME and thus unsupported on that OS. The memory manager in NT systems including NT, 2K, and XP is totally different and much more robust.

I think the best way would be to handle it as seperate downloadable packs. Taking the example layout of the seb_ilo pack I made (plus a readme file of course) would be one possible solution. None so far as I am aware of. Your best option would be to build your own then from individual objects, and copy and paste that prefab around. By doing this you would also be able to deal with the distance issues you've been experienceing when using the region tool placer. One process would be to pl...

Re: Minimum distance in Region Tool
Okay, what you are seeing is that WRPtool doesn't place what it thinks it can't place due to the min distance filter. If you say "place 500", but WRPtool only thinks it can place 50 - including objects already present for calculating min distance it appears - you will only get 50 placements. There's...

The 'min dist' just needs to be clarified in the manual.
Region-based transition placement would be great.
The transition section of the manual needs to be clarified so users know exactly where the transitions will show up.

Re: Minimum distance in Region Tool
I'm guessing that you are not placing enough objects in the region for this to be a concern. My understanding is that the min dist. is just to limit the randomizer to make sure that by weird luck you don't get clumps. The min dist. option maxes out at 20m, and will cull any objects from the requeste...

The AGS Port and City packs are still independent, however the Industrial pack has been merged into the 3WX project. While the older Industrial pack is very common, the 3WX version adds a bunch of new pieces, additional components, and some bug fixes.

Re: Object Previews - AGS / JOF / Barracken
Which is why I'd like to see WRPtool support using compression formats like JPG or preferably PNG instead of BMP's for preview resolution. Idealy it would be nice to have a mini-runtime ODOLex preview, but that would add some overhead as well.

Ilo is a bit messy as the final official release was in MLOD format. To make the pictures I made a binned copy, and then used that for WRPtool verification. I presume you're referring to 'this' WRPtool instead of the other WRP editing program. Re: Blocky Texture help plz
By using large flat ares like in your screen shots, you increase the number of cells visible, and the likelyhood of your mind seeing texture repeating. If on the other hand you use rolling and hilly terrain like the BIS maps, there's less cells (and thus textures) to be seen.

I see. Well, the BIS textures are not exactly "non-repeating", as you have discovered. The only way to get around this is to either create textures that blen so well and in a fashion to fool the human mind into not seeing patterns, or add objects so you don't pay as close attention to the landtext.
