TACEdit Question

Post by Glide87th » 2001-10-07 02:18:00

I have been experimenting with Tacedit to see if I can figure out how my campaign got corrupted, and I wonder if anyone knows what the "Requestor ID is invalid" messages mean. I created a squeeky clean Rolling Fire campaign and opened it with Tacedit. I selected Operations/Check Units and get multiple error messages back. Can anyone point to the ultimate Tacedit resource?

You just edited the default campaign, well cant you take the original campaign file again and start over?

I'm not sure what you mean by "take the original campaign and start over". I was on Day 11 of a Rolling Fire campaign and was experiencing what has been described as the consolidation bug. I thought I would take a look at the campaign with tacedit to see what the problem might be. I got the "requestor ID is invalid" messages, but I didn't know what they meant. I decided to see if this was normal behaviour for tacedit, so I started a Rolling Fire campaign to see if an unplayed campaign would give the same messages. It did. That means either there is something wrong with the base campaign in 110, or tacedit is generating eroneous error messages. In any case, I am no closer to finding out what corrupted my campaign, and I have no guarantee that starting a fresh campaign will work.

Go to the falcondir\campaign\save dir and take the original falcon save0.cam file or what ever it was that you're editing.

Thats strange, I dont know what to tell you. works fine here on all original and edited Instant/TE/Campaign files.

Which version of Tacedit did you use?
Did you insert the correct path to properties?

I'm using Tacedit 2.01. I checked the paths in the properties. Except for the mixed up / in the path, everything was correct. I corrected the /. I followed your instructions. When I open save0.cam and run Check Units, I get no errors. But when I run it against a generated campaign, i get them. I am running pure 110 with only Tbone's skyfix 3 applied.

Everything should be ok then. I have no experience on running "generated" campaigns, sorry.

I assume with "generated campaign" you mean a savefile ?

Not astonishing that you get the error messages.

The saved files only contain "delta" data, they don't save the whole data set, only what has changed from save0.cam or the previous savefiles + save0.cam.

TacEdit is not yet fully capable to handle delta files.
