some thoughts after i tweaking RV-korea 1983 into an "early-1960" campaign..
-use TacEdit, i forgot to add [airbase Id] for newly added ac squadron in last try. now i keep it in mind, for ac sq, be sure to fill in the campID of its [airbase ID]. for carrirer based sq, add the carrier campId.
-based on RV database, several type of ac are not complete and not available for campaign use. adding them will cause CTD, or not available in selection sq menu. ac such as F-5A, A-4C, F-102A, F-104, Su-9 are not usable. surprisingly, RF101 and RF5E work. i also found RF101 sq generate flights as patrol.
- ac squadron page in TacEdit, the [speciality] seems influence the mission type of sq. choose [air/air], do more AA, choose [air/ground], do more AG. i added two sq of F100D, one for AA, one for AG, and the result is shown as expected.
- with main AA fighter like F100D, the AA kill number is significantly lowerd. aim-9B failed most time. gun kill is hard against fast movers.
- most SAM batteries removed.. each side got a sq of AWACS to simulate CGI system. so far so good, no CTD.

- add a sq of mig17PF for AA missions. the sq won't generate working sorties. i added AA-1 for it, working now.
- as all ac use gun and old-day AAMs, the AA kill score is low.. it also appears i got to add more dedicated sq for AA missions - a bit hard to stop red bombers and attackers.. like modern days with high pk AAMs.
it properly represent the low combat performance in that era.. thus needs more ac.

more tests show..
- the air war tempo is slow. so does air-to-ground combat.. all due to lower-performace old ac.
- due to FM code limit, many ac not working right, FM over or under-powered. several types of ac, like mig17PF, j5/6, fly into ground at low level easily.
- due to AI limit, AI ac have difficutlies using gun or old model AAM. for example, F100Dx4, each with aim9B x4, sweep mission > down zero ac.
- AI has no problem using AG dumb bombs.
conclusion - the timeframe/early 1960 doesn't fit f4 engine.. late-60 could be better. 1950 war/ pure gun fight - could be even worse.
