F4 Allied Force; Could not open SimLib file formdat.fil

Post by Snake Man » 2006-12-27 23:40:54

Another problem with F4AF? Yes sir :)

Not funny actually, how am I going to get any idea whats inside this title if I can't run it. So this is what happened, I was in another theater flying around, ESC -> E, into the campaign screen, back out, exit quit from F4AF, all is fine.

Next time when I start F4AF it gives me this some weird debug display asking if I want to send feedback to LP, no I say and try to launch the program. Windows bling sound goes off and nothing happens, uh oh?

I see the BFOpslog.txt file is created and it says

<general>:Could not open SimLib file formdat.fil

I tried to repair F4AF by launching the setup from CD and choosing repair, no luck. Tried to apply 1.09 patch again, no luck. SimLib file formdat.fil no open, noway. Sigh.

Any ideas?

Sorry SM, not familar with that error at all. All I can suggest is reload AF from scratch and/or email LP and ask them about it (or post over at Frugals in the AF forum). Ed_1 usually hangs out over there and he's pretty helpful.

Sorry I can't be more helpful. Haven't seen any probs like that come up.

SM,
Are you still getting that error?

I searched and found that the file referenced is inside the simdata.zip compressed file lying in this path:

\Lead Pursuit\Battlefield Operations\zips

That is strange that only one file would get corrupted in a compressed file like that. Do you need me to send you a good file to put into your simdata.zip file?

Well this is the tricky part, no, I don't get that error anymore. It was related somehow for the theaters installed EVEN THOUGH IT FIRST CAME IN KOREA THEATER. So go figure. It was the mysterious "6 theater dir bug" I told you in private message (if anyone feels utterly interested, ask and I'll explain).

But now it works fine, I just don't get it how F4AF can "dynamically" do errors like that, I mean NOTHING has changed from before and now there is no bug. Crazy stuff.

But end justifies the means, no error now so I'm happy :)

Very kewl.
So you are now able to run more than six theaters simultaneously in AF? :)
