vietnam theater 1.0 for af?

Hi all

just wondering if the vietnam theater is still going.

I am an af only user and the nam theater works fine in the fictional campaign, but in the historical i can only select the 41st awacs squadron. I go in there, but can't join any other flights, because the phantoms are not flyable. the atc is also not working.

In the ods theater i can fly the phantom although it has the f16 cockpit.

Can anybody help me, please? I really like the idea of flying other theaters in af.

re there also any other theaters planned for af? It's a bit sad that lead persuit doesn't like the idea of people modding stuff
and went and encrypt half the game.

I'm not a modder myself, but admire the work you guys do.

Yes it is.

Yes this is how LP configured the release.

All PMC theaters work in AF.

Heh its not encrypted, just different file formats.

@Goose,

In order to fly other planes in AF campaigns, do the following:

Go the \campaign folder for the theater you want to fly other planes in (e.g., vietnam), and rename the validAC.bin file to another name (e.g., original_validAC.bin). If you want to fly other planes in basic Korea theater, go to the \campaign folder for Korea and rename the validAC.bin file to another name.

Then you will be able to select other plane squadrons available in vietnam.

If you want to fly other planes in TEs in AF let me know and I'll walk you through changing the teplanes.lst file which enables other aircraft (besides F-16s) to be flyable in TEs.

Note: You will not be able to get other cockpits in AF. The files that allow that to be changable have be converted to binary and the old editing methods don't work anymore.

Sherlock, we should add the edited validac.bin into our theaters on the next development cycle. Please remind me or even send the edited & tested file to be added into every campaign :)

Actually, why the heck haven't I done that earlier already hmm.

ATC is based on the stations.dat file. The file in use for Vietnam is still the old Korea stations.dat file. It was never changed. Some of the airbases in the Vietnam theater do not have stations.dat entries so you won't get any ATC at those airbase locations.

I recommend the validac.bin file either not be copied over from the base install (if that is what the script is doing) OR rename the file when it is copied to the new theater installation path. WHichever is easier. There is NO file to edit (other than renaming it) and there is no testing on that file to be accomplished.

I see. i looked at the .dat file and used the af manual for reference, but couldn't make out much except ils and maybe range.
Just thought I might try to write a script for the nam bases if I knew what the values meant.

sORRY, I DIDN'T GET THE QOUTE PART RIGHT.

The tasking might be slow, so better wait few hours campaign time for it to kick in. Even still, it might be slow enough for you to just task stuff manually, that's why the Add Package button is there.
