PS: Im afraid 3d support could be quite limited with first SP3 release.
so, for editing campaign sq/unit(with latest DB), you can use:

F-4E
F-4G(as B/C/D model, no gun)
A-6(if enable in time, in sp3)
F-5E(as F-5A)
C-130
B-52
Mig-17
Mig-19
Mig-21
UH-1
AH-1
MD500
CH-47
T55/M60/S60/K12/Zil/M163/Hawk SAM/BTR/Zsu23-4/Zsu57

the ammo support include:
most Mk series GP bomb, cluster bomb, some GBU, one naplam
AA1
AA2C/D
AGM45
AGM65A/B
AIM9B/D, AGM78, AGM62 II(if enable in time)
LAU

a/c drop tank support: **expect a/c crash due to run out of fuel frequently**
F-4 wing and centerline tank
F-5 : n/a
A-6 : done, not in sp3 yet
mig17/19/21: some are done but all n/a in sp3.

Congrats on your hard work...if you can get a F-105G and a carrier based F-4J, then you can do Linebacker I (1972), which should be a hoot. Another item to consider...F4Browse will enable you to make some new objectives and there is a need for some various types of villages that don't look like cities...also, you know about the tree edits...well this is another fun prospect!

hi Jim,
F105 probably on hold.
good thing is, F-4B/C/D/J/N/M/K/S is almost done, see 3d toy threads on general discussion forum.
Besides, Aim-4A/C/D/F/G and Aim-9B/C/D/E/H are ready as well.

F-102 textured and waiting lod conversion, my favorite, in FA days.

village, sure, we cannot populate vnam with skyscrappers, not even today!! :D

BTW Jim, pliz check this threada and give some idea, we must got skin number assigned and artists settled ASAP.

It does not need to be...

I was thinking that we could help out and test it to find out whats wrong with it and maybe some F4LE guys can help if there are work to be done etc.

no worry. the development will resume someday.

AFAIK, most LE masters got full hand of projects this moment(and i keep adding more workload on them hehe ).

Since you are the 3d god here, I wont argue.

Its just shame, it would have been great addition to Vietnam SP3 release.

Hi

Villages - There are a bunch of small house/farm and stable models already in the database. There is even a model of a house on stilts with a small boat moored alongside it which would be great for Vietnam.

What is needed I think is the Village objectives that currently contain large skyscrapers to be replaced with many of these small houses.

Might get round to it myself one day as it would also suit the other theatres.

Later

Not really... I have some rice paddy and jungle tiles made by ComGP but they need a bit work to make complete sets.

I might add those in, have to see when we get there.

This is directly from Shawn Agne the SP database guru. This is what we will have on SP4 for Vietnam:

F-105D (4 texture sets)
F-100D (4 texture sets)
A-4E
A-1H
along with the F-4's and B-52D in SP3

Mike Rivers is working on the F-8 Crusader, and Quake is structuring F-102.

So it looks good for Vietnam, thanks for Shawn and the rest of the people behind these aircrafts.

what about huey gunships or hueys with doors open? What about NVA, ARVN and US Army having squads made up of only soldiers (M16 and AK47,) and without other vehicles?

Are gunpods going to be modelled in SP4? I think in 1967 or 69, the USAF fitted their F-4 Phantoms with an M61(i think) gunpod.

gunpod won't work correctly in SP4.. it needs code edits.

my last try is treating gunpod as rocket pod, 10 bullets as one rocket.. the rocket FM needs some tweaks, it flies really fast but go upward!!

how about use a gunpod as default part of the model, then setup the gunlocation in the FM?

Then it won't be "gun pod".. slot(s) wont be able to load anything else. my 2c, Rocket pod idea is better, though i heard we can not add new rocket pods in db without code edits.

i'm no expert but...
what if we make another model or modification of an F-4 with the gunpod permanently attached in its 3D model, enable the guns on the aircraft via the database and place it in a particular squadron. That way, all the F-4s in that squadron would have this gunpod on every mission and can fire its guns, while other F-4s in other squadrons that does not have this "F-4 model with gunpod" cannot fire.

ya, if SP managers don't mind adding few more CT slots.

could make it a weapon, and make it loadout able, as a gun, havent tried it, but what could it hurt.

Can't wait until SP4 releases!

SRTM Database

Posted: 2007-04-29 11:49:59
by ranger822
I suggest using the SRTM version of ITO2 database a start point for building the Vietnam DB.

I am slowing putting together the necessary *.xls spreadsheets to identify things. It is a real shame that the info on the database hasn't been documented in detail to be able deconflict things - find all the unused stuff.

Once that process is complete, which may take a little while - being able to build up new databases should be much easier.

i think most major combat vehicles are done. check your F4 database.

the work left is database editing.

You should supply those models to RV and OF teams so they can implement them in the future releases.
