hi my friend Nayfe is working on a VHS tape parser, he dont have a account here so i post for him:
Hi all,
I'm developping a vhs tape parser to output a compatible Tacview file.
I just have a little problem:
Positions of entities are x,y,z and Tacview needs coordinates (latitude,longitude) so I need to convert x,y to lat,long...
With SP3 code, it doesn't work well with OF acmi.
For example, let's take Seosan Airstrip Control Tower:
Im getting from OF acmi :
x=1270196.25
y=1490589.875
converted to (SP3 code)
lat=37.253744
lon=124.242394
but in game and in real life, Seosan airstrip is not here, it's
lat=37,445289
lon=127,111816
I conclude that OF conversion is not the same as SP3, and if someone here could tell me what to do, i would be very grateful
[OF dev]X,Y to Lat,Long

Pay attention to the fact that globaly in game coordinates are not accurate. And also that there is a bug in the 2D projection, so that for exemple if you modify theater center in order to get accurate coordinates for one airfield, town or whatever you want, coordinates for every other objects won't be accurate.
And the more your are away from an object which have accurate coordinates you are the more there is a difference between in game coordinates and real coordinates.
This just for that you take into consideration just ingame coordinates.

Also I'm still unsure (forgotten?) if F4 engine uses spherical method for those coordinates or not. For example original korean theater and balkans are not spherical, all PMC theaters are.
