Couple of UI file questions I need help with...

Post by Sherlock » 2007-04-12 16:35:30

I am trying to locate the files that control the text presentation for the Tactical Engagement UI. I am also trying to locate the graphic that is used in the TE editor to add/delete/modify the teams and to "color" the map for control/occupation purposes. Here is what I mean:

Image

The circled in red text is wrong and I need to locate the file that controls it so I can change it to the proper team names. Apparently it is not the strings.wch or iran.wch (<theater>) because I have already changed those for the campaign mode and it is working correctly. This is just for the Tactical Engagement mode.

EDIT: Ok, I found the answer to the first question. I can edit the te_new.tac file and change that name. I guess it is stored in the te_new.tac file and not in any string file any other place.

Here's the second question:

Image

What rsc file has the red circled graphic (and what is the name of the graphic) in the picture above?

Thanks for any help in advance!

(Perhaps you fixed already) Have you changed it in the te_new.tac?

Edit: Eh, Uh! OK, 1st question answered. 2nd, I don't know...
2nd Edit: I think I know the answer: IA_MAP_TGA.tga in main.rsc

Can you figure out which scf file controls that screen? There should be a refrence to a bmp or tga file.

Quick lookthrough of old F4. Try art1024\taceng\tac_team\tac_team.scf

There's a section that talks about painting the map, but it looks like it might be using the IA map for the graphic or tac_map_te. Look for a tga with something like that?

Edit to track Closter. :D ;)
Various parts of the above scf:

Code: Select all

[CLIENTAREA] 361 161 172 172 2 "Map"
.
.
[BITMAP]
[SETUP] NID 0 IA_MAP_TGA
[CLIENT] 2

[BUTTON]
[SETUP] TAC_MAP_TE C_TYPE_CUSTOM
[FLAGBITON] C_BIT_TRANSLUCENT
[FLAGBITON] C_BIT_DRAGABLE
[FLAGBITOFF] C_BIT_MOUSEOVER
[PERCENT] 50
[CLIENT] 2
[XY] 1 1
Both reference that Client Area 2.

Hmm but doesnt that red colored map are just the dreaded Occupation Map which doesn't work on 128 theaters with current Tacedit?

Don't know for sure yet. Just getting into this, trying to understand how all the pieces fit together (I've not messed around with TE mode before; was concentrating on Campaign mode) and I'm trying to get all the UI pieces done so we can check that off. You may be right SM, it may be related to the occupation map but I just don't know (yet?)...
