Hi everybody,
I was just wondering how posible is to make now a photoreallistic theater for Falcon...
I installed RV a couple of days ago and I´m amazed of how fast it works and since baldeagle said there is not anymore 4096 limit... could a photoreallistic theater be done?
Also I´ve been checking what you guys have been doing with SRTM data and it looks great, if we could join the two things maybe we could get a REALLy good looking theater, I mean, something close to FS2004, not that repeating tiles anymore... (it has been a dream of mine since a few years...)
For me its not hard to make tools for autocreating a theater (most of them are already done) but there is a few things that I thing should be discussed before.
- what tile limit do we have now ? - this is important because if using default resolution 1km at L2 then its one tile per square km, that means lots of tiles.
- Choose a place of earth where its easy (and free) to get the data, for anything done with FS2002/4/X is easy to get the data, its just a quadtree structure with depth of 15, I could get all sat data really fast.
-The theater shouldn´t be really big, no 128 segment
-A problem with roads and paths in the tileset file, should make a tool for autocreate paths from arcgis data? any other solution?
The closest of making this was the canary islands I made some years ago, but it had 2km L2 resolution to cover arround 7000 sq km.

Anyways, this is just an idea, the biggest problem I think is getting the data from a war area now that 4096 tile limit has been solved
Regards to everybody,

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I have heard the limit is still 256 SETS of tiles (meaning 256 sets of 16 tiles each, maximum) so there still is a limit of 4,096 tiles.
BUT
to the best of my knowledge no one has had a texture.zip / texture set that has exceeded 256 sets to really try it.

Mmmmmmmh, I thought the problem had already been solved because of this post.

But it seems that you are right... only 256 sets..., now the point is... how many tiles per set (still 16?)
BTW, I had a zip somewhere with 5000 tiles for nevada, I will try to find it although I think its too hard, loooooooooooooong way back
