Problem creating Theater - Land on oceans

Post by Chisco » 2002-11-08 23:25:00

Hi!

As you know F4Spain is trying to create a Theater including Spain, Portugal and rth Africa.

We seem to have a problem when creating the files for the Theater. Once we open the theater in Falcon SP3 we get random land over the ocen. Ocean is supposed to go there, but huge masses of land appear from nowhere in the middle of the ocean.

Is there are known solution for this?

Go to Terrainview and select an ocean tile. Double click to open that tile. Click once on the upper left grid start the process. Rock click that grid and highlight the entire tile section. It will bring up a box that asks you to CHANGE REGION. Type in 0 for elevation and 0 for tile to get rid of that problem.

0,67 (bottom left corner) segment needs to be ocean as it is shared. When you have working L2 and use Dr. Fred Balding's theater utilities they pick up the segment and use for all other ocean segments.

So if your 0,67 (or whatever it was) is land, then you see land on everywhere you should get ocean.

Otherwise the krfrge help is valid to make "ocean segment".

Snakeman, I bet goood money you have found my FLY! terrain problem. I try it in a few minutes. I wish I had known the issue with Fred's stuff... I guarantee you I've spent 250 hrs trying to figure out what I did wrong.

For a 64x64 segment theater should the shared ocean offset/elevation segment be 0,63 or 1,63? I am confused on this and I can't find anywhere via search here at PMC that specifically defines this.

I'm asking because in ODS (which also has land in the lower left corner like my theater) the ocean shared segment is at 1,127....

Yes indeed I think I made a mistaken in my previous post in the good old days back in 2002 (hehe those were the times, ahh). ;)

The shared ocean segment "source" segment is 1,63 or 1,127

Here is the magnificent illustration

Bottom left corner 1,63 or 1,127 (correct for shared ocean):

OXO

The utmost corner would be 0,63 or 0,127 (wrong for shared ocean!):
